Zaid Ahmad is one of the founding members and the current President of the NED Alumni Association of Southern California (NEDAASC). He graduated from NED in 1979 in Civil Engineering. He started his professional career working with the National Construction Company of Pakistan and worked on miscellaneous construction projects in Pakistan and Kuwait. He came to the USA in 1982 at Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon, and completed his Masters in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering. Since his Masters, he has been working in the private sector in Dallas, Texas, and in the Los Angeles area with geotechnical consulting firms. He joined Southern California Edison Company in 1989, a public-owned utility company, and is currently working at SCE as a Project Manager and a Lead Geotechnical Engineer. He is a registered Civil Engineer in multiple states including California, Arizona, and Texas. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Deep Foundation Institute, and Association of State Dam Safety Officials. Zaid is married and lives with his family in Ontario, California. He enjoys traveling, sports and plays cricket and table tennis; and he is also an active member of the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley, California.
