Asma Ali

Asma graduated from NED University, Karachi, Pakistan in 1994 with a degree in Civil Engineering. She worked as a structural engineer in Karachi from 1994 to 2000 and then moved to the US for further studies. She obtained MS and PhD degrees from George Mason University (GMU), USA, in 2007. Since then, Asma has been working as a consultant to departments of transportation in the DC Metropolitan Area. She also teaches as an adjunct faculty at George Mason University. She is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Virginia and Maryland.

Asma believes in giving back to her Alma Mater, NED University, in whatever way she can. She has volunteered for NEDIAN-NA in the past as a board member and is currently heading the organization. Moreover, she has been volunteering for NED Alumni Association of Washington, DC, for the past twelve years in various capacities. She also mentors NED University and GMU senior design students.

Asma is a true Karachiite for her love for Chai (no Chai Tea, please) and good food. She enjoys traveling, reading, and discussing books and hanging out with friends. For her association with NED University, she quotes Faiz Ahmed Faiz as,
